Exposure

Created during and following a month-long winter residency with Pollen Collective in Pouch Cove, Newfoundland, Canada, this body of work explores the psychological, social, and physical reactions to being away and, in diverse ways, exposed. During my time at the residency, I went on many long coastal hikes, always with my camera and sketchbook. I used these photographs and drawings in a variety of ways; I worked digitally as well as with oil paint on linen and board. All the works are expressions of observation through the lens of a visitor; they engage with the transient processes of discovering, watching and exploring.
